Sucre is the Constitutional Capital of Bolivia, which is often confused with the city of La Paz.

Sucre is also known as “The White City”, because the remaining colonial buildings of the 19th and 20th centuries are painted white, this nice detail makes the city a picturesque postcard, and whose historical heritage has earned it the name of Ciudad UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Casa de la Libertad is the first historical monument in Bolivia, since the Act of Independence of the Republic of Bolivia was signed here in 1825; It is currently a museum and cultural space. It was built in 1621 by the Society of Jesus for the operation of the first university in Upper Peru, the Pontifical University of San Francisco Xavier, in whose classrooms the ideas of the South American revolution were forged.

Visiting the Tarabuco Sunday Market is an experience that will allow you to appreciate the colorful typical clothing of the Yamparas, with their ponchos, hats, sandals, and blankets, making this market one of the most authentic in Bolivia. Every Sunday, the Yampara families arrive from their communities to trade their products in Tarabuco, still practicing barter today.

Sucre also offers you the possibility of traveling to a much more remote past, to the time of the dinosaurs. Cal Orko has been declared a National Palentological Monument of Bolivia, with more than 5 thousand footprints of approximately 294 dinosaur species, this park is a great contribution to science, since it reveals new data on the Cretaceous and Tertiary period – from 66 million years ago. years – being a faithful reference to the high diversity of dinosaurs that inhabited this region of the world.
