The landscape and scenic beauty of Amboró Park have earned it recognition as one of the most diverse areas in the world: 289 species of butterflies, 109 species of fish, 105 species of reptiles, 820 species of birds, 127 species of mammals have been recorded, and around 3000 species of plants.
Its mountainous reliefs, deep valleys and canyons, its mighty rivers and waterfalls form beautiful and picturesque postcards: you can watch birds in the forest known as Siberia and Chonta, Saguayo with a large number of orchids, the Yunga de Mairana better known as the Forest of Giant Ferns, Jardín de las Delicias, Los Volcanes Refuge of great scenic beauty and one of the best options to spend the night in the area.
The archaeological ruins of El Fuerte de Samaipata (a word derived from Quechua that means “Place of rest between mountains”), also declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, is located in this region.
In the archaeological site there is a sculpted rock with figures of sacred animals and symbols that were used for the study of astronomy. The beauty of this rock harmonizes with the beautiful landscapes of the region. On the rock there are images of two condors that are believed to represent Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, founders of the Inca Empire.
