Chiquitos Jesuit Missions
per person
During the colony in South America, the Chiquitos Missions were the main settlement of the Jesuit missionaries, whose main objective was the conversion of the indigenous tribes to the Catholic faith; this missionary complex was not destroyed after the expulsion of the Jesuits from the Spanish colonies.
The cultural heritage reflected in the magnificent Mestizo Baroque style churches, where you can attend masses and also enjoy Baroque music concerts – either during the International Festival of American Baroque Music, or at the end of August at the Seasonal Festival, with the participation of local choirs and orchestras – recognized as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
The Jesuit Missions of San Xavier, Concepción, San Ignacio, Santa Ana, San Miguel, San Rafael and San José are part of the missionary circuit, and are a living testimony of the enormous remaining cultural richness in Bolivia.
